Vacancy opens on Snohomish City Council

Snohomish, WALocal News

Maygen Hetherington, a recently elected Snohomish Councilmember, will resign from her position at the end of 2025. The city is soliciting applications to fill her seat, with a deadline for submissions set for November 14. Interested candidates must provide a letter detailing their qualifications and the key issues they foresee for the council in 2026. The current council will appoint a new member during the December 2 meeting, with the appointee starting their term on January 1, 2026. This appointment is temporary, as the new council member must run for election after their one-year term.

Hetherington, who also leads the Historic Downtown Snohomish Association, emphasized her commitment to that role in her resignation announcement. The changes come as the city prepares for new council elections on November 4. These developments reflect ongoing shifts in local governance and community leadership.
