Snohomish candidates answer questions

Snohomish, WALocal News

During an Oct. 6 forum attended by more than 250 residents, Snohomish mayoral candidates Aaron Hoffman and incumbent Linda Redmon outlined their plans for the city. Redmon, who won her first term in 2021, emphasized her commitment to fiscal responsibility and public safety, stating she would fund projects without raising taxes. She has previously restructured City Hall and initiated infrastructure projects to address community needs. In contrast, Hoffman, who has no prior political experience, stressed the importance of fiscal discipline and improving the permitting process to facilitate housing growth.

Both candidates responded to questions on homelessness, with Hoffman linking it to drug abuse and advocating for transportation and job support. Redmon expressed a desire to eliminate unnecessary regulations to boost local businesses. Their responses reflect a clear divide in governance philosophy, with Hoffman aiming for a business-oriented approach and Redmon focusing on community and human needs. The forum underscored the candidates' differing visions for Snohomish's future as the city prepares for the upcoming elections.
