Snohomish, WALocal News

A DUI driver eluded police and crashed into two vehicles on the U. S. 2 trestle on Tuesday evening, resulting in significant damage. The collision caused one vehicle to roll over and forced another, which contained children, into the guardrail. The driver, a 40-year-old Arlington man, sustained injuries and attempted to escape by climbing over the jersey barrier, ultimately falling from the trestle before police apprehended him.

The Washington State Patrol reported that the trooper initiated the stop after observing reckless driving on Interstate 5 just before the U. S. 2 interchange. The entire incident unfolded in about 10 minutes, highlighting the urgency of the situation. Authorities closed the highway for nearly six hours to conduct an investigation and clear the wreckage, diverting traffic to Home Acres Road.

All three vehicles involved were reported as totaled. This incident underscores ongoing concerns regarding DUI offenses and public safety on highways.
