Everett Polices drones to give early eye of scenes begin zipping to 911 calls this month

Snohomish, WALocal News

Everett Police Department aims to deploy drones to respond to 911 calls by the end of October, enhancing emergency response capabilities. Deputy Chief Robert Goetz reported that two drones are already in training, with plans for six total drones stationed around the city. These drones will assist in various public safety incidents, such as tracking suspects and finding missing persons. The department will install four additional drone docks, which will be located on rooftops of participating businesses. Coordination with the FAA will allow drone flights up to 400 feet, expanding operational reach.

A public dashboard will provide real-time information on drone missions and outcomes. Community members can tour the drone program later this month to understand its purpose better. The next City Council Community Health and Safety Committee meeting is set for November 5.
