Snohomish County to Host Open Houses for Future Food Farming Center

Snohomish, WALocal News

Snohomish County will hold two open houses on October 9 and 11 to discuss the upcoming Food & Farming Center at McCollum Park, a facility designed to enhance local agriculture and food access. The center will provide essential infrastructure for processing, aggregation, and distribution of farm products, featuring a commercial kitchen and a year-round indoor farmers market. Agriculture Office Manager Linda Neunzig noted that farmers have needed this support for over a decade, particularly underscored by challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. The open houses will include presentations from County staff, and the same information will be shared at both events. Community members are encouraged to provide feedback, with a recording and an online survey available for those unable to attend.

This initiative aligns with Snohomish County's broader goals of strengthening local agriculture and supporting sustainable economic development. Enhancing food security is a key focus, as local farmers and food entrepreneurs seek more resources. The center is positioned to create new opportunities within the agricultural sector and the wider community.
