Snohomish County Parks & Recreation secured over $1. 6 million in grants for significant park improvements. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office awarded a $500,000 Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account grant for the Flowing Lake Dock and Waterfront Access Project, which will enhance accessibility for recreational activities. Furthermore, a $681,175 grant will facilitate the expansion of Martha Lake Park, improving access and parking options. The Healthy Kids Initiative Grant will provide matching funds to enhance playgrounds at Martha Lake Airport Park and Paine Field Community Park, effectively doubling the initial budget for equipment.

Parks Director Sharon Walker expressed gratitude for the funding, which allows for safer and more inclusive park spaces. Community engagement will be encouraged through online surveys in August to gather feedback on park designs. The Snohomish County Parks system encompasses over 11,000 acres and hosts numerous recreational events annually.
