Snohomish, WALocal News

Snohomish County Public Works recently completed two major preservation projects funded by federal grants, enhancing local infrastructure. The projects included the repainting and rehabilitation of Red Bridge 537 and a four-mile asphalt overlay on 140th St NW/NE. Together, these initiatives, costing over $6. 7 million, are designed to proactively maintain transportation assets and save taxpayers from future costly repairs. County Executive Dave Somers highlighted the necessity of these projects, thanking residents for their patience during construction.

The county relies on state and federal grants to effectively use local tax dollars, currently aiming for a ratio of $3 in grant funding for every $1 spent from the County Road Fund. Public Works Director Kelly Snyder underscored the importance of efficient tax spending in supporting community mobility. The projects align with the county's six-year Transportation Improvement Plan, which emphasizes strategic infrastructure investments. These efforts reflect the county's commitment to preserving its transportation network while managing resources responsibly.
