Man shoots another in Sultan, prompting large police response

A Monroe man shot a 32-year-old victim in Sultan on September 17, stemming from a violent dispute over a shared romantic interest. The shooter, masked and armed, pistol-whipped the victim and shot him in the thigh during a confrontation at a residence on U. S. 2. Two other individuals present in the home escaped unharmed, while the shooter fled the scene and was later apprehended at a cannabis dispensary in Renton.

Law enforcement charged him with four felony counts related to the shooting and five others for a violent incident against another man earlier that day. The 32-year-old victim had expressed fear for his life, indicating the severity of the situation. The shooter has a criminal history, which adds to the gravity of the case. Bail was set at $150,000 after a probable cause hearing on September 19. This incident underscores the potential for domestic disputes to escalate into serious violence, prompting community concern.
