Snohomish, WALocal News

Voices Northwest chorus gathers every Monday at Unity Church in Lynnwood, where members partake in vocal exercises and warm-ups before singing in harmony. This group, part of Sweet Adelines International, includes women aged 29 to 91 who value the friendships and community formed through music. Founding member Barbara Hagen notes that the chorus feels like family, while Juanita Harwood shares that singing energizes her after a long day. Director Charlene O’Connor, who has over 47 years of barbershop experience, emphasizes the importance of personal growth and confidence among members. The chorus tailors rehearsals based on upcoming performances, cycling through various songs.

They will host a themed cabaret, “Best Day,” on October 11, featuring songs tied to the seasons and decorated tables. Tickets for the cabaret are available for $15, showcasing the chorus’s harmonies and the friendships that keep them singing together. The event reflects the blend of music and community that defines Voices Northwest.
