Snohomish, WALocal News

Snohomish County Parks & Recreation recently announced the allocation of over $1. 6 million in grants aimed at enhancing local parks. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office awarded a $500,000 grant for the Flowing Lake Dock and Waterfront Access Project, which will replace an aging dock and create accessible recreational opportunities. Furthermore, a $681,175 grant will support the expansion of Martha Lake Park, focusing on improved access and increased parking capacity. The Healthy Kids Initiative Grant will also significantly boost playground projects at Martha Lake Airport Park and Paine Field Community Park, increasing each budget to $500,000.

Parks Director Sharon Walker noted the importance of these grants in creating safer and more inclusive park spaces for the community. Community members will have the chance to provide feedback on the park designs through online surveys in August. With over 11,000 acres of parks and open space, Snohomish County aims to enhance its recreational offerings. The initiative reflects a broader commitment to fostering outdoor recreation and public access in the region.
