Snohomish County Extends Outdoor Burning Ban
Snohomish County has extended its Stage 1 outdoor burning ban until September 28, 2025, in response to ongoing wildfire risks. The ban prohibits residential outdoor burning, permitting only recreational and cooking fires under specific guidelines. Recreational fires must be less than three feet in diameter and monitored continuously, with a water source on hand. Officials warn that conditions conducive to fire spread necessitate caution, especially with dry weather predicted. The county will reassess the ban if high fire danger persists, and a new release will be issued if further extensions are needed.
If a Red Flag Warning is declared, all outdoor burning will be suspended until further notice. The National Weather Service issues Red Flag Warnings to alert communities of ideal conditions for rapid wildland fire spread. Residents can contact the Outdoor Burning Information Hotline for real-time updates and safety information.
