Snohomish County Elections received the prestigious 2025 Professional Practices Independence Award from the National Association of Election Officials for its innovative Elections Explained initiative. The program combined community partnerships and a multi-platform marketing campaign to enhance voter education and accessibility. Collaborations with the Snohomish County League of Women Voters and Sno-Isle Libraries facilitated in-person Q&A events, allowing voters to engage directly with election officials. Auditor Garth Fell expressed pride in the initiative, emphasizing its role in fostering open dialogue with the community. The campaign generated over 11 million impressions through digital and traditional media, significantly raising awareness ahead of the November 2024 General Election.

Susan Hempstead of Sno-Isle Libraries highlighted the importance of libraries in empowering voters through education. The award reflects a commitment to excellence in election professionalism and community engagement.
