Motorcyclist hurt in Monroe hit-and-run by driver who was detained soon after

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in Monroe on August 26 when a Toyota Camry struck him shortly before 5:30 p. m. The driver exited a business driveway and fled the scene on foot, but police detained him soon after. Authorities arrested the driver for hit-and-run with injuries and conducted a blood draw due to suspected impairment. The injured motorcyclist was taken to a hospital by Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue.

The collision's impact closed the roadway briefly while both vehicles were impounded pending search warrants. Monroe Police Cmdr. Paul Ryan confirmed that officers detained the driver in the 100 block of S. Lewis Street. The police are awaiting lab results from the state crime lab to determine the driver's impairment level.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety for motorcyclists in the area.
