Snohomish, WALocal News

Rev. Carol Jensen, a tireless advocate for social justice, passed away from cancer on August 2, just two weeks shy of her 77th birthday. Friends, family, and community members gathered at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on August 14 to honor her contributions to social causes and community care. Jensen was instrumental in founding the Faith Action Network and was a vital figure in the Everett Faith in Action organization, which focuses on addressing homelessness. Bishop Shelley Bryan Wee remarked on Jensen's ability to inspire people from diverse spiritual backgrounds to advocate for justice.

Her sister and Sikh leader Dr. Jasmit Singh emphasized that Jensen's activism stemmed from deep-rooted beliefs rather than mere performance. Before her ministry, Jensen was involved in pro-peace and anti-war campaigns. She served as a pastor for 35 years, including a notable 19 years at a Lutheran Church in Seattle's Phinney Ridge neighborhood. Jensen's legacy of compassion and commitment to social justice will resonate within the community for years to come.
