Everett council races set for mayor, top two neck-and-neck

Voters in Snohomish Fire's district approved an EMS property tax levy lift, demonstrating strong community support for emergency services. In the Everett mayoral primary, former councilman Scott Murphy led with 5,520 votes, closely followed by incumbent Mayor Cassie Franklin at 5,442 votes, indicating a competitive race heading into November's general election. Business leader Janice Greene secured third place with 4,158 votes, which now becomes open for the general election. In the City Council District 1 race, Sam Hem led with 1,410 votes over Erica Weir's 1,230, while incumbent Mary Fosse's endorsement played a significant role in Hem's success. District 2's incumbent Paula Rhyne received 60% of the vote, indicating strong support for her re-election, while challenger Ryan Crowther is also set to advance.

In District 4, Niko Battle led with 632 votes, emphasizing his campaign's message of unity and progress. The results from these races reflect the community's engagement and desire for effective leadership in Everett. These primaries set the stage for a pivotal general election in November.
