First-night Snohomish County primary election results see Snohomish say yes to fire levy, interesting races in Everett

Voters in Snohomish Fire District approved a property tax levy lift, with 60% supporting the measure aimed at improving financial conditions. The lift seeks to reset the levy to 50 cents per $1,000 in assessed property value after erosion over time. In the Everett mayoral race, Scott Murphy leads incumbent Cassie Franklin by a narrow margin of 3,993 to 3,815 votes, with Janice Greene trailing at 2,627. These preliminary results will change as more ballots are counted in the coming days. In City Council District 1, Niko Battle leads the race despite recent scrutiny, with 933 votes, followed closely by Erica Weir and Mason Rutledge.

Districts 2 and 4 also feature competitive races, with Paula Rhyne and Niko Battle currently leading their respective contests. The top two candidates in each race will proceed to the general election scheduled for November. The outcomes of these races could significantly impact local governance in Everett.
