Everett's Franklin to fine graffiti artists
Mayor Cassie Franklin of Everett announced a proposed ordinance to make individuals responsible for graffiti cleanup costs. The initiative aims to lessen the financial burden on the city while deterring future graffiti vandalism. Residents can report graffiti incidents by calling the city’s hotline at 425-257-URIT (8748). Franklin stated that the ordinance should help reduce cleanup costs associated with graffiti. The City Council will review the proposal later this month or in August.
As graffiti poses challenges for local communities, implementing such measures can foster a cleaner environment. The ordinance reflects broader city efforts to engage residents in maintaining public spaces. If passed, this law could serve as a model for other municipalities facing similar issues.
