Cat rescued from dumps garbage pit must have 9 lives

Snohomish, WALocal News

On June 30, a cat was rescued from the garbage pit at the North County Recycling and Transfer Station in Arlington, causing a brief disruption in operations. Crew members noticed the cat while processing waste and paused their work to search for it. Operations Manager Will Cote noted the cat was "very nice" but understandably scared during the ordeal. Although some thought it may belong to a local resident who reported a missing cat, it was identified as a different feline. A veterinarian confirmed the cat had a microchip, but a software update is needed to retrieve its owner’s information.

Meanwhile, an employee is fostering the cat and has expressed willingness to adopt it if no owner is found. The incident highlights the compassionate efforts of solid waste employees who care for the community beyond their primary duties. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of microchipping pets to help reunite them with their owners.
