Man loses hand after cannon incident, and more from July 4

Snohomish, WALocal News

A Monroe man lost his hand in a homemade cannon accident on July 4, as reported by Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue. The man sought help from a friend, who brought him to a fire station after the explosion. Emergency responders provided life-saving aid before he was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Other fireworks-related incidents included a significant vegetation fire in Lake Stevens that destroyed a home and displaced two adults and three children. Additionally, a carport fire in Lynnwood damaged four vehicles, with no serious injuries reported.

Fire officials emphasize the importance of caution amid ongoing dry conditions. This year's Fourth of July festivities resulted in fewer reported fireworks incidents compared to previous years. The community is reminded to prioritize safety during holiday celebrations.
