Everett Fire Department celebrates 100th birthday for early fire station, now its HQ

Snohomish, WALocal News

The Everett Fire Department celebrated the centennial of Fire Station No. 2 with a public open house on June 25. Originally built in 1925, the station has served as the department's headquarters since it ceased active operations in 1992. The celebration attracted about 50 attendees who enjoyed guided tours led by Everett Fire Analyst Cindy Dean, who showcased historical documents and firefighting antiques. The station was constructed following a major fire in 1924, funded by a $50,000 levy approved by city residents.

Dean highlighted the station's unique trapezoidal design and its listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. Local families, including resident Raelynne Scott, expressed their enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing the community spirit it fostered. The Everett Fire Department operates from six stations and will showcase both antique and modern fire vehicles in the Downtown Everett Fourth of July parade. The department maintains various specialized teams for emergencies, including hazardous materials and technical rescue.
