Snohomish County Cities Join Outdoor Burning Ban Taking Effect July 1

Snohomish, WALocal News

Effective July 1, 2025, Snohomish County has instituted a Stage 1 outdoor burning ban amid heightened fire danger, set to last until August 31. This ban prohibits all residential burning in unincorporated areas and several cities, including Everett and Lynnwood. Only recreational fires are allowed, which must be less than three feet in diameter and monitored at all times. Fires must also be located at least 25 feet from any structure or combustible material. The county's Fire Marshal may extend the ban depending on ongoing weather conditions.

A "Red Flag Warning," indicating ideal conditions for fast-spreading wildfires, will lead to a complete ban on outdoor burning. Residents should use caution when considering recreational fires and can receive updates by contacting the Outdoor Burning Information Hotline. The measures taken reflect an urgent response to the increased risk of wildfires in the region.
