Snohomish, WALocal News

CVS confirmed its acquisition of 64 Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs locations in the Pacific Northwest, including several in Snohomish County, as part of a strategic expansion. The company plans to rebrand the Bartell stores to CVS while continuing to offer popular local products. CVS spokeswoman Amy Thibault emphasized that the company aims to enhance the shopping experience by improving product selection and staffing. The acquisition process is expected to finalize by late summer or fall, subject to customary closing conditions. Rite Aid's bankruptcy has prompted a series of store closures, including the Granite Falls and Silver Lake locations.

CVS's expansion follows its entry into Washington state in 2014, which included new store openings and pharmacy operations in Target stores. The U. S. bankruptcy court authorized CVS's acquisition on May 21, with store locations sealed by court order. Bidders are actively pursuing Rite Aid leases, with a deadline for bids on some properties set for June 23.
