Big ants to permanently adorn Monroe theater

Snohomish, WALocal News

Monroe Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Janelle Drews spearheaded an ant-themed event on June 21 at Galaxy Theaters, where community members painted a giant ant. Frank Rimkus, the CEO of Galaxy Theatres, brought the giant ants from California, where they had decorated a multiplex for a decade. Over the years, the ants had been stored away, waiting for a new purpose. Local organizations, including the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Boys and Girls Clubs, participated in the painting, creating designs that reflected their identities. Rimkus emphasized that the only condition was for the designs to convey happiness.

This event not only brings vibrant art to Monroe but also strengthens community ties. The initiative showcases local creativity and collaboration among youth groups. The giant ants are expected to become a permanent fixture at the theater, enhancing the local cultural landscape.
