Winners of NWWS Waterworks Exhibition engage senses through exceptional techniques, drawing viewers in to see more
The 2025 Northwest Watercolor Society Annual Waterworks Online Membership Exhibition highlights 75 outstanding watermedia paintings and runs until June 30, 2025. Lana Privitera from Pine Bush, New York, secured first place and a $1,000 prize for her evocative piece "Breakfast with Maria," which captures nostalgia and emotional depth through skilled watercolor techniques. Second place, with a prize of $750, was awarded to Dana Thompson of Milledgeville, Georgia, whose work features fluid transitions and a balanced color palette that creates a serene atmosphere. Suze Woolf of Seattle, Washington, took third place and $500 for her hyper-realistic portrayal of an old stump, which transforms a simple subject into a captivating focal point. Juror Michele Usibelli praised the winners for their exceptional skills and the emotional resonance of their artworks, stating that art brings beauty and connection to the world.
