Shoreline and LFP Police launch Police Explorer Post for young adults

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Shoreline and Lake Forest Park Police Departments will start a Police Explorer Post in Spring 2025, designed for youth aged 14–21 interested in community service and law enforcement training. Participants are not obligated to pursue public safety careers, making the program accessible to a broader audience. This initiative is part of the King County Sheriff’s Office effort, which currently supports five Explorer Posts across contract cities and unincorporated areas. To join, applicants must pass a background check and maintain good standing with their school and community. The program is now welcoming new members year-round, providing a continuous opportunity for engagement.

All Explorer advisors are commissioned deputies, ensuring participants receive professional guidance and mentorship. The program aims to enhance community involvement among youth while offering insights into law enforcement practices. Such initiatives are crucial for fostering positive relationships between police departments and the communities they serve.
