13 large active wildfires in the Pacific Northwest

Shoreline, WALocal News

Thirteen large wildfires currently burn across the Pacific Northwest, with 10 in Washington and three in Oregon, impacting nearly 75,000 acres. At least six of these fires in Washington ignited due to lightning strikes. Current firefighting resources consist of 1,465 personnel, 57 engines, and 16 helicopters, which are actively engaged in combating the blazes. Fire conditions are expected to remain elevated this week, driven by hot temperatures and dry lightning across the region. Local officials emphasize the importance of community vigilance and compliance with fire restrictions to mitigate the risk of human-caused fires.

Wildfire season continues to pose significant challenges, highlighting the need for public awareness and proactive measures. Recent data show that lightning is a major contributor to wildfire starts, underscoring the natural risks in the area. The ongoing situation requires a coordinated response to protect both lives and property.
