Navigating the WSDOT culvert replacement construction on SR 104Ballinger Way
Starting July 7, 2025, crews will implement overnight lane closures on 35th Ave NE for a culvert replacement project that enhances fish passage on SR 104. The initial phase involves flaggers alternating traffic through the work zone from 9 PM to 5 AM. The most significant disruption will occur around Labor Day, with a planned 35-day full closure of SR 104. A signed detour will guide vehicles, pedestrians, and transit around the work zone during this period. The new culvert structure will open 7.
5 miles of upstream habitat for various fish species, including Chinook and coho salmon. Crews will also work to improve habitat within Lyon Creek, a vital waterway flowing from Snohomish County into Lake Washington. This project aims to restore fish populations and promote biodiversity in the region. Residents can stay informed by signing up for email updates on the SR 104 Lyon Creek fish passage project.
