Navigating the WSDOT culvert replacement construction on SR 104Ballinger Way

Starting July 7, 2025, crews will implement overnight lane closures on 35th Ave NE for a culvert replacement project that enhances fish passage on SR 104. The initial phase involves flaggers alternating traffic through the work zone from 9 PM to 5 AM. The most significant disruption will occur around Labor Day, with a planned 35-day full closure of SR 104. A signed detour will guide vehicles, pedestrians, and transit around the work zone during this period. The new culvert structure will open 7.

5 miles of upstream habitat for various fish species, including Chinook and coho salmon. Crews will also work to improve habitat within Lyon Creek, a vital waterway flowing from Snohomish County into Lake Washington.
