Seattle, WALocal News

A woman was shot and a suspect barricaded himself inside an East Madison apartment during a police standoff early Friday morning. The Seattle Police Department confirmed an “officer involved shooting” occurred when officers responded to a disturbance call around 5 AM. Officers reported hearing the woman yell for help, but the situation escalated as the suspect began shooting and reloading while police returned fire. The victim was treated for a gunshot wound to the abdomen and transported to Harborview Medical Center, where she is reported to be in stable condition. SWAT teams surrounded the building throughout the morning as they attempted to negotiate with the suspect, who remained inside.

By 7:30 AM, police had not resolved the situation, and an update later revealed the suspect was found dead at the scene. Investigators are looking into whether the suspect's injuries were self-inflicted. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about gun violence and police engagement in urban areas.
