Explosion and fire at Oak Harbor home leaves 1 unaccounted for, 2 escape with injuries

A large explosion and fire occurred at a residence on Strawberry Point Road in Oak Harbor at approximately 5:45 p. m. Tuesday, according to the Island County Sheriff's Office. Of the three adults present, two managed to escape with minor injuries, while one person is still unaccounted for. Fire crews are actively monitoring the scene for hotspots and will remain there overnight.

An investigation into the cause and origin of the explosion will begin once it is safe to do so. The ICSO emphasized that they will provide additional updates as new information emerges.
