Anti-ICE protest in Seattle turns tense as fireworks, rocks thrown at police

Seattle, WALocal News

Hundreds of anti-ICE protesters marched in Seattle on Wednesday, escalating tensions as some threw fireworks and rocks at police. Officers reported at 10:03 p. m. that a crowd was ordered to disperse, with Seattle Fire extinguishing a nearby dumpster fire. This protest followed a previous day’s demonstration where protesters burned American flags, resulting in two arrests, although details of the charges remain unclear.

Police had initially refrained from disrupting the earlier protest until late in the evening when they clashed with demonstrators. After deploying pepper balls, the police retreated, leaving the area. As the night progressed, the crowd shrank to around a dozen people. These protests reflect the ongoing local discontent with immigration enforcement policies. The events underscore the tension between local activists and federal immigration authorities.
