20th anniversary HUMP! coming to Dan Savages neighborhood this weekend

Seattle, WALocal News

Dan Savage’s HUMP! film festival marks its 20th anniversary with neighborhood screenings in Seattle, presenting 23 short films that celebrate sex positivity and human connection. The festival, which encourages attendees to be their authentic selves, will kick off at Quality Flea Center this Saturday, with a follow-up event at The LumberYard Bar next Thursday. Each screening includes games, prizes, and a chance to spin the HUMP! prize wheel, enhancing the community atmosphere.

Savage stated that these events aim to foster connections among participants, not just with the films but with each other. The festival has evolved from its inception when "amateur" content was less mainstream, showcasing independent filmmakers and everyday individuals. This year’s celebration highlights the growing acceptance of diverse sexual expressions and the importance of community. Savage's initiative also reflects ongoing cultural shifts towards inclusivity and openness regarding sexuality. As the festival continues, it reinforces the significance of creating spaces for dialogue and connection in the community.
