Haunted Burrow Books will make temporary home on Capitol Hill block destined for demolition and development

Seattle, WALocal News

Haunted Burrow Books will open its temporary horror and dark fantasy shop on June 20 at 430 15th Ave E in Seattle's Capitol Hill. Owner Roxanne Guiney announced the grand opening event, inviting locals to explore offerings every Tuesday through Sunday until the end of the year. The shop will join a mix of pop-up stores and flea markets in an area awaiting redevelopment, following the city's approval for a six-story building on the block. The old QFC grocery store has become a hub for temporary retail, allowing local businesses like Thistle & Poppy to thrive. Guiney aims to test the market for a brick-and-mortar presence, capitalizing on the area's strong book retail history, exemplified by Ada's Technical Books' success.

However, the neighborhood recently lost Nook & Cranny, highlighting the commercial challenges faced by local retailers. The mix of ventures on the block is filling gaps in the commercial landscape, with more new experiments anticipated. Haunted Burrow Books represents a unique addition to this dynamic environment, promising to be a destination for genre enthusiasts.
