See yourself in art in the new Frye Parlor

Seattle, WALocal News

The Frye Art Museum in Seattle launched Frye Parlor, an innovative exhibit by artist Jayme Yen that combines art installation with a communal gathering space. This new exhibit, positioned outside the museum’s cafe, encourages visitors to engage creatively with the art, transforming them into participants. Vibrant banners and reflective Mylar materials invite guests to explore their interpretations of the displayed works. At the opening, attendees wrote their observations and artistic sentences, further enhancing the interactive experience. Yen highlighted her commitment to making art welcoming and accessible, especially for those unfamiliar with it.

The Parlor's design features mobile seating, allowing for diverse community events and social interactions. This exhibit will remain open until March 2027, when a new contemporary artist will take over the space. The Frye Art Museum continues to uphold its founder's vision of free admission and community engagement.
