Seattle, WALocal News

La Cha-Bliss Wines has opened in Capitol Hill, showcasing wines primarily from Washington, Oregon, and California. Owner Howard Russell, who is also known as Ladie Chablis, pivoted from plans to import wines due to economic pressures. He focuses on supporting queer-owned winemakers, emphasizing that his business serves the community. “My business is not just my business, it’s our business,” Russell stated, highlighting his commitment to giving back. The shop is located at 1412 12th Ave and is set to celebrate its first Pride event.

This initiative reflects a broader movement toward community-oriented businesses in the area. The shift from international imports to local wines aligns with growing consumer interest in supporting local and marginalized producers. La Cha-Bliss Wines aims to foster inclusivity and connection within the neighborhood.
