Food Lifeline receives 250,000 truck donation to aid food delivery efforts

Seattle, WALocal News

Food Lifeline, dedicated to combating hunger in western Washington, secured a $250,000 truck donation from Republic Services, a company with an extensive vehicle fleet. This donation will bolster efforts to deliver fresh fruits, vegetables, and proteins to underserved neighborhoods. Mark Coleman, a representative of Food Lifeline, emphasized the importance of the donation, stating that such a vehicle represents a significant financial commitment. The truck will target communities with limited grocery access, including senior and affordable housing areas situated 2 to 3 miles from the nearest food sources. Many residents in these neighborhoods lack reliable transportation options, underscoring the need for this service.

The initiative aligns with Food Lifeline's mission to improve food access for those in need. As a result, the new truck is anticipated to have a profound impact on the local community's access to essential food supplies. This donation reflects a growing trend of corporate philanthropy aiding local food assistance programs.
