Child hit by stray bullet during domestic violence shooting that killed Federal Way teen

An early morning shooting in Federal Way, Washington, resulted in the death of an 18-year-old man and left an 11-year-old child injured by a stray bullet. The incident occurred around 1:22 a. m. on Saturday at an apartment complex located on 18th Avenue SW. Police believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic violence dispute involving the victim and his ex-girlfriend, leading to an altercation that escalated into violence.

First responders administered aid to the victim, but he later died from his injuries. The 11-year-old child, who was struck while sleeping in a nearby apartment, is now in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center. Authorities reported that the suspect fled the scene and is known to the victim, reducing concerns about public safety. Federal Way detectives are conducting an active investigation and have encouraged anyone with information to reach out to the police department.
