Boeing secures big win landing 96 billion deal with Qatar Airways

Seattle, WALocal News

Boeing announced a landmark $96 billion deal with Qatar Airways, which includes up to 210 jets, with 160 confirmed orders for 787 Dreamliners and 777-9s. This agreement marks Qatar Airways' largest order on record and is expected to support approximately 400,000 U. S. jobs, highlighting Boeing's significant impact on the economy. Aviation consultant Mike Boyd noted that Boeing's operations benefit communities across the country, from Montana to Colorado.

While the deal is seen as a substantial win, Boyd cautioned about past delivery issues that led Qatar Airways to cancel an order for 50 737s. Senator Maria Cantwell praised the agreement, emphasizing the importance of U. S. manufacturers in the competitive widebody airplane market. Boeing's President and CEO Stephanie Pope expressed enthusiasm about future collaborations with Qatar Airways.

The deal also sets a record as Boeing's largest order for widebody jets and the 787 Dreamliner. Boyd remarked on the significance of the deal in light of previous challenges faced by Boeing in meeting customer demands.
