Seattle, WALocal News

Garett Merlino, accused of threatening an attorney and assaulting Thurston County deputies, faces multiple felony charges and is being held on a $50,000 bond. The deputies were investigating a harassment case when Merlino allegedly became aggressive and attacked them. Sheriff Derek Sanders reported that the deputies suffered injuries but are recovering at home. During the court proceedings, the attorney mentioned her fear for her safety after receiving numerous threatening text messages from Merlino. Prosecuting Attorney Leanne Stogsdill highlighted the seriousness of the threats, urging the court to keep Merlino detained.

Judge Jennifer Forbes agreed on the high bail and found probable cause for felony harassment and assault charges, while dropping a stalking charge. The judge also considered conditions for Merlino's medication adherence upon potential release. Merlino's arraignment is set for May 22 at 11 a. m.
