Ducklings' downtown adventure captivates Snohomish County community

Seattle, WALocal News

A mother duck and her eight ducklings made a memorable journey across Fourth Street in Marysville, Washington, on Thursday morning. The duck family, which nested outside the Marysville Civic Center, prompted police calls as they traversed downtown. Community Service Officers and Marysville Police responded to ensure the safety of the ducklings. Body camera footage captured officers guiding the family to Ebey Waterfront Park, where the ducklings waddled into the water. Ducklings typically walk and swim shortly after hatching, depending on their mother for protection and guidance.

This heartwarming event underscores the community's concern for local wildlife and the successful outcome of their efforts. The incident reflects a growing awareness of urban wildlife and the importance of preserving their habitats. Such community engagement not only fosters a sense of belonging but also encourages residents to take action for the welfare of animals in their neighborhoods.
