Authorities suspended the search for missing kayaker Ty Coone in the Strait of Juan de Fuca on Wednesday morning after extensive efforts failed to locate him. Coone contacted 911 around 3:00 p. m. Tuesday, reporting he was in distress while fishing from his kayak. The U.

S. Coast Guard launched a rescue operation, aided by a drone from the Clallam County Sheriff's Office and ground support from Park Rangers and Fire District 3 personnel. Despite recovering Coone's kayak, life vest, and paddle, no trace of him was found. At the time of his disappearance, Coone was believed to be wearing a hoodie, rain gear, and possibly a hat and sunglasses. The search concluded at 10:00 a.
