Seattle stabbing suspect asked victim 'did it hurt?' after unprovoked attack, police say

Seattle, WALocal News

Jiminson Calix Bodden, 26, is being held on a $250,000 bail in King County Jail after facing charges of robbery and assault stemming from an unprovoked stabbing incident outside a PCC Market in West Seattle. Authorities apprehended him following the stabbing of a 47-year-old man and the theft of a woman's phone, which occurred Monday afternoon. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Julia Zimny stated that residents should not fear random violence while engaging in daily activities. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Harborview Medical Center. Bodden's defense attorney, McKay Campbell, argued that the evidence against his client is weak, citing the absence of a recovered weapon and questioning the connection based solely on witness descriptions.

Judge Jill Klinge pointed out that both victims provided matching descriptions of the suspect, which contributed to her ruling. Additionally, there was a dispute regarding Bodden's prior criminal history, with Campbell contesting the existence of pending charges. The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is currently reviewing the case for further action.
