Roof collapse at Quinault Water Tower injures 4 construction workers, 2 critically

Seattle, WALocal News

Four construction workers sustained injuries after the roof of a new water tower collapsed in Taholah, Washington, on Tuesday afternoon. The collapse occurred just before 2:30 p. m. , sending the workers falling into the empty tank below. Two of the workers were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center and are in critical condition, while the other two received treatment for less severe injuries at another unspecified hospital.

Quinault Resources led the rescue operation and requested help from the Coast Guard, which dispatched a helicopter from Astoria for the operation. Additional response teams from Grays Harbor County and Thurston County were also involved in the rescue. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among rescue personnel. Incidents like this raise concerns about construction safety practices and the importance of adherence to safety protocols. The Quinault Indian Nation officials are expected to review the circumstances surrounding the collapse to prevent future occurrences.
