From an owner ready to pick up where others have moved on, Gol Mok Korean Market Bar coming to Capitol Hill

Seattle, WALocal News

Heong Soon Park is set to open Gol Mok Korean Market Bar at the former E Pike Taku site, previously owned by chef Shota Nakajima. This new venture will focus on bunsik, a popular form of Korean street food, and aims to recreate the vibrant atmosphere of Korea's markets from the 1980s and 1990s. Park has successfully reinvented several dining spaces in Seattle, including the Cheese Room, which took over Machiavelli's long-standing location. His first restaurant, Meet Korean BBQ, has been a fixture in Capitol Hill since its opening shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic. Park's projects reflect a larger movement of Korean culinary offerings in the area.

The Gol Mok Korean Market Bar hopes to evoke nostalgia through its food and ambiance. The location is part of the Pike Motorworks development, enhancing the neighborhood's dining scene. An official opening date for the market bar has not yet been announced.
