Defendant in Jonny Adamow murder case pleads not guilty

Seattle, WALocal News

Charles Hickman, 23, entered a not guilty plea for first-degree murder in the shooting death of Jonny Adamow on December 31 at Broadway and Pike in Seattle. Authorities allege that Hickman fired ten rounds from behind a utility pole, with evidence and eyewitnesses placing him at the scene. Adamow was struck in the back and succumbed to his injuries. During a recent plea hearing, Hickman's defense team successfully sought to prevent media from showing his face, arguing it could bias jurors. They pointed out that media coverage aided in his arrest but did not provide additional details.

Hickman remains incarcerated at King County Jail, facing a $2 million bail, and has no previous criminal record. A trial date is set for mid-May, although it could be rescheduled. The case raises significant concerns about gun violence and public safety in the area.
