Another fire damages old Queen Sheba building at Broadway and John

Seattle, WALocal News

A fire broke out at the long-vacant building that previously housed the Queen Sheba restaurant in Seattle on Tuesday afternoon. The Seattle Fire Department received calls about flames on the building's exterior around 2:45 PM and reported the fire under control shortly after 3 PM. This incident is particularly significant as it marks the second time in recent months that the structure has been damaged by fire, following a suspected arson case last October. The property owner, Dru Agarwal, remains optimistic about the future, stating that plans to renovate the building for a new restaurant are still moving forward. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the blaze, which allowed firefighters to focus solely on extinguishing the flames and investigating the cause.

The Fire Marshal has been called to the scene to determine the fire's origin. Additionally, streets in the vicinity were closed as crews managed the emergency response. This ongoing situation underscores the importance of fire safety and community vigilance, especially in areas with historical significance.
