FBI, ATF give update on Tesla Supercharger arson investigation in Lacey

Seattle, WALocal News

A targeted attack on a Tesla supercharger station in Lacey, Washington, resulted in an explosion early on April 8, prompting a multi-agency investigation involving the FBI, ATF, and local police. The blast occurred shortly after 1:30 a. m. , and witnesses reported hearing a loud boom from the charging station. Investigators released surveillance video showing a suspect carrying a plastic bag near the site just before the explosion.

The suspect, described as a white male with a distinct gait, was dressed in a dark hooded jacket and gray pants at the time of the incident. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, but the damage was extensive, and investigators believe the suspect may have sustained injuries consistent with being near an explosion. This incident is part of a concerning pattern of vandalism targeting Tesla vehicles across Washington state, raising questions about motives and safety. The FBI has urged residents in the vicinity to review their security footage from the night of the incident for any clues. Authorities have set up a digital media tipline for individuals to submit any relevant videos or photos to assist with the investigation.
