The Montlake Lids bus stops are now in service

Seattle, WALocal News

King County Metro has launched bus services at the Montlake Lid, marking a significant milestone in the $455. 3 million SR 520 project aimed at improving urban infrastructure. The new transit center serves several key routes, providing connections to Capitol Hill, Central District, and Bellevue, among others. This initiative is crucial for the approximately 13,500 riders who depend on these services daily, restoring vital routes that have been unavailable since 2019 due to construction. King County Executive Shannon Braddock emphasized that this reopening is a critical step forward for regional transit, enhancing access and convenience for local residents.

The project not only improves public transportation but also includes three grassy acres and new trails connecting to nearby parks and neighborhoods. With the Montlake Lid now operational, the focus shifts to balancing the heavy motor vehicle traffic that flows through the area. Additionally, the project is in its final phase, with further developments planned, including the $1. 4 billion Roanoke Lid and Portage Bay Bridge projects. This comprehensive approach to urban mobility underscores the importance of integrating transit solutions with urban infrastructure development.
