Man charged with murder for New Year's Eve shooting in Capitol Hill, 2 million bail set

Seattle, WALocal News

In a tragic incident on New Year’s Eve, Charles Michael Hickman III has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Jonathan Adamow, the child of a New York City firefighter. The shooting occurred around 3 a. m. at the busy intersection of East Pike Street and Broadway in Seattle, where surveillance footage captured Hickman allegedly shooting Adamow. A witness, who was at a nearby gas station before the shooting, assisted authorities in identifying Hickman as the shooter.

Following his arrest on April 7 by U. S. Marshals, Hickman wrote an apology letter to Adamow’s family, expressing regret for his actions and stating that Adamow was not the intended target. Authorities have yet to locate the murder weapon or reveal who the actual target was that night. The case has raised concerns about gun violence and public safety in the area, highlighting the need for community discussions on these critical issues.

Hickman is currently being held in custody with a bail amount of $2 million. The investigation continues as the community mourns the loss of a young life.
