1-year-old girl found safe after abduction from Seattle day care, suspect in custody

A 48-year-old woman was arrested by Seattle police after abducting a 1-year-old girl from a daycare on Friday afternoon. The incident was reported around 2:46 p. m. in the 9300 block of Rainier Avenue South, with the suspect known to the child's mother. After fleeing the scene in a gray sports car, the suspect was tracked down by multiple law enforcement agencies to a location in Federal Way.

When officers found the vehicle, the woman attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended shortly thereafter. The child was safely rescued around 5:45 p. m. and was returned to her family at the Seattle Police Department's South Precinct. Following her arrest, the suspect was taken to the Federal Way police station before being transferred to Seattle police custody.

She will be booked into King County jail after an interview with detectives. The SPD has stated that the investigation into the kidnapping's circumstances is still ongoing, emphasizing the seriousness of the crime.
