CHS Pics Final nights at the Century Ballroom

Seattle, WALocal News

The Century Ballroom, a cherished dance venue in Capitol Hill, is set to close at the end of March, concluding a remarkable 28-year run that featured swing, waltz, salsa, and more. Hallie Kuperman, the owner, commemorated this transition with a final Wednesday Swing dance, reflecting on the venue's importance to her and the community. The space will soon be transformed into the Reverie Ballroom, under the guidance of Seattle event producer Eliza Wilder, who is negotiating a new lease for the historic Odd Fellows Building. The Reverie Ballroom aims to continue the tradition of dance while broadening its offerings to include events and rentals. As preparations move forward, the venue will close for a rare Saturday to host a staff party, with renovations planned in the upcoming weeks.

Community engagement has been strong, with nearly $17,000 raised to support the new venture and attract potential investors. The sibling bar and restaurant, the Tin Table, will continue operations until May, when it will be replaced by a new project. This transition marks a significant change in the Capitol Hill landscape, highlighting the community's dedication to preserving local culture.
